Stakeholders Undergo Compliance Management Training

Stakeholders Undergo Compliance Management Training

In line with the Stakeholder Engagement and Management Programme of the Road Fund, the Road Fund Compliance Manager Mr. Phoka Thene organized a one-day Compliance Training for stakeholders held at the Fund’s Headquarters in Maseru on Tuesday November 10, 2020.

The aim of the training was for stakeholders to have an understanding of compliance management as a concept, so as to ensure that compliance issues that arise in the stakeholder organization that may impact the Fund’s operations negatively and where such issues arise from the Fund and may impact the stakeholders negatively, can be addressed with a common understanding.

The other intention was to forge more coherent relationship between the Fund Compliance Department and similar Compliance or Legal departments in the stakeholder organizations and to learn from one another.

During the training, Mr. Thene focused on enhancing the participants’ understanding of how such departments can be of positive impact in the different organizations where there is a common drive towards compliance.

The plan is to have several of these trainings and follow up meetings where the team will share on important lessons and assist one another in resolving some compliance aspects in different organizations. The drive is to achieve the ultimate compliance within the respective departments and see the results of the strategic contribution by the Compliance or Legal Departments.

Present at the training were colleagues from Basotho Enterprise Development Corporation (BEDCO), the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftainship, Maseru City Council and private practitioners on the Inspire Mentorship Programme.

The Training was in line with the robust one on one Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management Programme where the Fund held sessions with Implementing Agencies and Collecting Agencies, Courts of Law and other stakeholders. Part of the discussions around the table was Compliance Management.
