Road Fund Strengthens its Engagement with Communities

The Road Fund has strengthened its engagement with communities through an outreach programme conducted in the mountainous districts of Qacha’s Nek and Thaba-Tseka.

The campaign aims to educate road users and local communities about the role of the Road Fund, the importance of road user charges, and how these contributions support the maintenance and improvement of the country’s road network.

During the campaign, the Road Fund team, in collaboration with a content promoter, engaged with local stakeholders, distributed informational materials, and responded to questions from the public. These interactions helped communities gain a clearer understanding of how the Road Fund operates and the importance of maintaining safe and reliable roads.

Importantly, the engagement also provided an opportunity for the Road Fund team to address and clarify common misconceptions about the Fund’s mandate and responsibilities.

Community members who participated in the outreach activities expressed appreciation for the Road Fund’s initiative to interact with them directly in their own districts. Many noted that the sessions helped them better understand the work of the Road Fund and the role communities play in supporting sustainable road infrastructure.

By bringing these conversations closer to communities, the Road Fund continues to promote transparency, accountability, and shared responsibility in sustaining the country’s road infrastructure.
