Christmas is the time of giving! It is for this reason that the Road Fund, through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Programme, put smiles on people with disabilities during this time.
With the assistance of the Ministry of Social Development in the Berea and Thaba-Tseka districts, five people were identified, their needs assessed and Road Fund delivered in accordance to the needs just at an opportune time.
Speaking on behalf of the Road Fund CEO, The Road Fund Public Relations Manager, who is also a member of the CSR committee Mrs. Phumla Moleko congratulated those who were assisted and reiterated Road Fund’s happiness that the donations were delivered just before Christmas so that the beneficiaries can enjoy their Christmas holidays.
“You are the lucky ones, as Road Fund receives a number of requests for assistance every year, which surpass the budget set aside for CSR initiatives, please enjoy these gifts, use them wisely and sparingly and we hope they will indeed make your lives easier during this period”, she concluded. Speaking on behalf of the Ministry of Social Development in Berea Mrs. ‘Mathabelo Phenethi thanked the Road Fund on behalf of the beneficiaries, saying that it was her Ministry’s responsibility to take care of disabled, but at are mostly hindered by lack of funds to reach all beneficiaries at time.
The beneficiaries received equipment ranging from wheelchair and crutches to make their day to day lives easier; they also got summer and winter clothes as well as food packages.
The Road Fund gives back to the community every year, depending on the funds available and the theme for the year. This year Road Fund CSR Focused on people with disabilities. The assistance was to a tune of M100,000.00.
