Road Fund Lesotho is taking part in the African Road Maintenance Funds Association (ARMFA) Annual General Assembly, hosted by the Road Fund in Abidjan, Ivory Coast from May 13 to 16, 2024.
Road Fund Lesotho Team is led by the Chief Executive Officer, also the Chairperson of the ARMFA Southern Africa Focal Group (ASAFG) Mr. Nkekeletse Makara, accompanied by three senior officials of the Road Fund.
The Annual General Assembly is convened under theme “Towards sustainable financing of Road Funds, for better maintenance of the African road network”. The theme is aimed at challenging Road Funds to discuss future strategies for increasing domestic financing of well-maintained and safer road network for the African people.
At the meeting, the ARMFA Southern Africa Focal Group will present on two subthemes related to the main theme namely the impact of Climate Change on road infrastructure and financial sustainability as well as Legal Frameworks on the sustainability of road maintenance.
ARMFA is a non-profit making and non-political association that was founded in the year 2003 in Libreville, Gabon. The aim is to provide a platform and establish a network for experience and information sharing on leading road maintenance practices in Africa; to discuss and find opportunities on funding options and to promote and strengthen links between members of African Road Funds.
The last Annual General Assembly was hosted by the Road Fund in Mozambique.
