The Road Fund was honoured to host its regional counterparts, as Road Funds from the Southern African region convened in Maseru recently for the second ASAFG Meeting of 2025.
The Meeting provided a valuable platform to discuss the topic “The Evolution and Impact of Road Funds in Southern Africa: The Past, Present and Future”. Member countries discussed best practices, innovative funding and strategies to enhance road infrastructure for economic growth and connectivity.
This was also in line with the 30th anniversary celebration of the Road Fund in Lesotho, as most Road Funds in the region and in Africa were born around the same time. It was therefore important to share insights into successes and challenges including advancement in sustainable financing of road infrastructure.
The meeting was officiated by the ASAFG Chairperson also the CEO of Roads Fund Administration in Malawi Mr. Stewart Malata, the Deputy ASAFG Chairperson and CEO of the Road Fund in Angola Mrs. Anna Costa as well as the Road Fund Lesotho CEO Mrs. ‘Matšepang Sekhokoane.
This was the second meeting of The African Road Maintenance Funds Association (ARMFA) Southern Africa Focal Group (ASAFG) attended by Road Funds from Angola, Madagascar, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Lesotho as the host.
