Road Fund is entrusted to collect revenue from various streams; the revenue is then allocated to Road Implementing Agencies for maintenance and rehabilitation of roads. Road Safety Department also gets a share for road user safety programmes.
It is for this reason that Road Fund Management Team, led by the CEO Mrs. Matšepang Sekhokoane, undertook the second round of stakeholder visits to the Collecting Agencies in the districts.
The Team engaged the Revenue Services Lesotho staff at Sani Top Border Post and Qacha’s Nek Border Post, on collection on Toll Gate Fees.
Department of Traffic and Transport Staff in Mokhotlong and Qacha’s Nek were also engaged on collection of revenue on some permits including special permits and registration of vehicles.
The Team visited the ongoing construction of Monontša Border Gate to access how Toll Gate Fees will be collected from therein, as well as Ramatšeliso’s Gate in Qacha’s Nek to explore possibilities of collecting Toll Gate Fees from there.
This was a continuation of stakeholder engagement meetings held in the districts in July when the Road Fund CEO reported for duty.
