Road Fund has recently convened a stakeholder engagement meeting with Puma Energy to discuss the Road Maintenance Levy (RML) and its importance in supporting the country’s road infrastructure.
The engagement forms part of the Road Fund’s ongoing efforts to strengthen collaboration with key stakeholders in the energy sector, who play a critical role in the collection of the levy.
During the meeting, discussions were centered around enhancing mutual understanding of processes, improving compliance and addressing operational challenges related to levy administration.
Speaking at the meeting, the Road Fund Head of Finance, Mrs. Mphaphathi Ramanyalane, underscored the importance of the Road Maintenance Levy as a primary funding mechanism for the maintenance, rehabilitation and development of road infrastructure across Lesotho.
She further commended Puma Energy for its consistency in remitting what is due to the Road Fund, further emphasising the need for continued transparency, accountability and efficiency in the management of the Road Maintenance Levy.
Speaking on behalf of Puma Energy, the General Manager, Mrs. Salma Zacharia, welcomed the engagement and appreciated it, reaffirming their commitment to working collaboratively with the Road Fund to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
She also expressed their readiness to support initiatives aimed at improving systems and processes that facilitate effective levy collection and remittance in the country.
Both parties acknowledged the value of regular stakeholder engagements in maintaining strong partnerships, promoting dialogue and ensuring alignment on national infrastructure priorities.
The Road Fund remains committed to engaging all its stakeholders in order to foster strong, effective and sustainable relationships, also to ensure improved delivery of its mandate.
