As part of understanding her new role, the Road Fund Chief Executive Officer Mrs. ‘Matšepang Sekhokoane has engaged stakeholders at district level, through a tour to  Border gates as well and the Department of Traffic and Transport (DTT) offices in seven districts.

Accompanied by the Road Fund Management team, Mrs. Sekhokoane met with Revenue Services Lesotho ( RSL) and DTT staff in the districts,  who explained their day-to-day work, including the challenges they face.

The Road Fund collaborates  with the RSL personnel at the Border gates to collect Toll Gate Fees. The collected funds are deposited to the Road Fund coffers, and form part of the revenue collections that fund the country’s road infrastructure.  

Road Fund also collaborates with the DTT,  under the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, to collect funds from some permits including special permits and registration of vehicles.

Mrs. Sekhokoane acknowledged that the tour to the districts was an eye opener as she got firsthand experiences of the stakeholders at district level, adding that this would make her work easy as she continues managing stakeholder relationships.  

During the visit, her key plea was for everyone to work hard and collect all that is due to the Road Fund, to ensure increase in revenue collection, which would also mean increase in development of the road infrastructure.

The  Traffic Commissioner  Mrs. ‘Mathabo Tšosane was also part of the delegation that undertook the tour to the districts.

Meanwhile Mrs. Sekhokoane also conducted stakeholder courtesy calls at national level with key stakeholders, still as part of her on-boarding experience.
