The African Roads Maintenance Funds Association (ARMFA) Southern Africa Focal Group, known as ASAFG, convened its third meeting of the year, hosted by the Zimbabwe National Road Administration (ZINARA) in Victoria Falls from October 28 to 31, 2024.
The Road Fund CEO Mrs. ‘Matšepang Sekhokoane led the Road Fund Lesotho delegation to the meeting, and it was also her inaugural meeting since she assumed its Chairpersonship from her predecessor.
During the official opening, Mrs. Sekhokoane applauded the choice of theme for the meeting, which is “The relationships of Road Funds and Road Agencies in the maintenance of Roads in Southern Africa”.
She said the theme is being discussed at a pivotal moment where investment in infrastructure can lead to transformative growth for economies in Southern Africa.
The Permanent Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure in Zimbabwe Eng. Joy Makumbe said it is critical now more than ever to enhance collaborations between Road Funds and Road Implementing Agencies, so as to build road networks that foster growth, unity and progress.
This is the second physical Meeting of ASAFG, the first one was hosted by Malawi Road Fund Administration.
