The Road Fund Chief Executive Officer Mr. Nkekeletse Makara has accepted the baton as the new Chairperson of the ARMFA Southern African Focal Group (ASAFG), at a ceremony held in Maputo, Mozambique on Friday May 12, 2023.
This follows a recent ASAFG Meeting where he was elected the new Chairperson of the Regional body, while Malawi Road Fund CEO was elected Vice Chairperson. Mr. Makara accepted the baton from the outgoing Chairperson, the Road Fund Mozambique CEO Prof. Angelo Macuacua.
Since he has been the Vice Chairperson under Mozambique he also presented the Vice Chairperson baton to Malawi Road Fund Acting CEO Mr. Alex Makhwatha.
The handing over ceremony was attended by Mozambique as host and outgoing ASAFG Secretariat, as well as Lesotho and Malawi delegations as incoming ASAFG leadership.
The new Executive Committee will serve the Region for a period of two years. ASAFG is the Southern African arm of the African Road Maintenance Funds Association (ARMFA).
ARMFA is a non-profit making and non- political association that was founded in the year 2003 in Libreville, Gabon. The aim is to form a platform and a network for experience and information sharing on the practices of financing road maintenance in Africa. To date it is constituted of 36 members from most Road Funds in Africa.
