Automated Traffic Justice System to improve workflow-Sekhokoane

Automated Traffic Justice System to improve workflow-Sekhokoane

The Automated Traffic Justice System (ATJS) sponsored by the Road Fund and handed over to Judiciary is aimed at improving workflow between institutions that deal with traffic offences resulting from contraventions of the Road Traffic laws of the country.

This was said by the Road Fund Chief Executive Officer Mrs. ‘Matšepang Sekhokoane during the ATJS handing over ceremony hosted by the Road Fund in Maseru recently.

She said the System will enhance transparency in handling traffic offences as

it emanates from the LMPS’s eSpot fine,  goes to Prosecution and all the way to the Courts of Law, until the offender is convicted and the case is closed accordingly.

“This will surely eliminate the delays and risks of lost fines, thereby boosting the public trust in the Justice System. The Road Fund is pleased to be associated with a development of this magnitude, we are confident that it is fully functional hence we can step aside as the funder, but we will still be available to support you in case of need,” She reiterated.

Speaking at the occasion, the Registrar of the High Court Adv. ‘Mathato Sekoai accepted the system and committed to ensure its sustainability and build public trust by streamlining the process and eliminating unnecessary delays.

She said the importance of the system cannot be overemphasised, adding that they are committed to working together with LMPS and Prosecution to put it to good use and for the benefit of the people whom they serve.

The Commissioner of Police Adv. Borotho Matsoso acknowledged the long-standing collaboration with the Road Fund in developing the system from when it handled eSpot Fines only, until it was extended to cover Prosecution and Judiciary.

He expressed hope that the Road Fund will be available to collaborate further, on the matter at hand and other issues of importance between the Institutions concerned.

The ATJS has been fully funded by the Road Fund and implemented in collaboration with the LMPS, the Directorate of Public Prosecution and Judiciary as the primary beneficiaries of the system. It has been developed by Engidata, who worked closely with the teams to ensure seamless integration and implementation across the law enforcement and judiciary processes.

The system and relevant equipment have cost the Road Fund an amount of about M25 Million.
