“In recent times, when recruiting most employers prioritise candidates with positive attitude over those with high qualifications” This was said by the Road Fund Chief Executive Officer Mr. Nkekeletse Makara while addressing Road Fund staff during the Second Wellness Day organised by the Fund at Victory Hall in Maseru last Friday.
The CEO reminded staff that people with an optimistic attitude have more success in the workplace than those who are negative and pessimistic.
He said positive employees are good at building relationships with colleagues and stakeholders, contribute positively to the overall performance of the team and their knowledge, experience, and positive thinking help them excel in their positions. He stated further that employees with positive attitude are easy to mold into best performers hence getting the output the organization requires.
“Keeping a positive attitude even when your workload is demanding, is a skill that needs to be practiced and perfected. It would also be easier to resolve a conflict because most people are easily influenced by people with pleasant personalities, I urge you to be those kind of people, in order to make Road Fund one of the most pleasant places one can ever be employed at,” he reiterated.
Mr. Makara concluded by urging the Road Fund staff to always safeguard the Road Fund Brand wherever they go; as one of the ways an organization can be respected is through conduct of its employees.
As part of activities for the day, a motivational speaker, Advocate Mary Bosiu was invited to uplift staff morale whereto she encouraged all to strive to reach their full potential both professionally and in their day to day lives.
Vitality Health Services and First National Bank also raised awareness about services that they offer, explaining how they would benefit the Road Fund employees.
Workplace wellness is a combined effort of health promotion by employers, employees, and society to create overall mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing for the people at work. This was the second leg of the three Wellness Sessions planned for Road Fund staff this financial year.
